Things Should Calm Down…

I was told that the GMP leaders namely Dato’ Dr Hassan Ahmad (Ex-Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka’s Director) and Datuk A Samad (Sasterawan Negara) had a close door meeting with our Minister of Education yesterday. Browsing through today’s papers, and since there is no big news about it, I think they didn’t have any fights …

I was told later that the meeting lasted over an hour and much had been discussed. From PPSMI to curriculum transformation to exams and evaluation. The Honorable Minister of Education had accepted their explanations that the had no intention of  being used by others. The Honorable Minister of Education also stated that the Ministry of Education had never jepordise the status of Bahasa Malaysia as the national Language. Further more, the Ministry’s door is always and had been open all the time for discussions if there are any grievences and there is never a need for anyone to take anything to the streets if they are sincere in their cause!

Even though these two seniors manage to convince our Minister of Education that they are sincere in their fight, we are still very skeptical about their sincerity especially after they had pledge to the Parliament and His Royal Highness The Yang Di Pertuan Agong in their memorandum that they will not take this issue to the streets then have a huge riot by their professional demostrators!

We really hope that the “two” had come to their senses and will remain retired professionals. We really hope that they won’t turned on their own words and go to the streets again to create havoc for the  very unfortunate KL public.

These “two” champions of the Bahasa Malaysia (GMP) who took PPSMI to the streets are doing a damage to the Malays. Specifically, looks like they want their race to be a failure. By doing so, Malays will continue to be the losers if the language in the schools is just Bahasa Malaysia whereas the non-Malays who go to the same school can be good in Bahasa Malaysia, English and their mother tongue. Hope Dato’ Hisham will not be impressed by these “two” anti-establishment even though had accepted their explanations that they had no intention of being used by other (only convinced all Malaysians that they actually have a hidden agenda and is a puppet to some party or parties). Let’s take a reality check of what had been done by these “two” GMP. As said by Dato’ Hisham that their views will be taken into consideration and that the Cabinet Paper had been prepared pending the approval of the Cabinet, but the GMP still took the issue to the streets (demo craze). These “two” are fluent in English but why do they want to deprive our future generations to be as good as them in English?

Thank god that the Minister of Education can talk them to their senses and prevent them from going to the streets again. Imagine the amount of energy wasted on the riots and the hundreds of thousands of unproductive man-hours they had on the streets, not to mention the amount of damage they cause and the amount of policemen hours and equipments wasted in such difficult time!
